Oslo's black metal stalwart 1349 is nothing if not committed to its craft. Fittingly named after the year the Black Death reached Norway, 1349 has been worshiping at the altar of its Norwegian Black Metal ancestors Mayhem and Darkthrone since the late 1990's. The band's devotion to all things corpse paint, spiked bracelets, frostbitten guitar leads, and gnarled vocals is highly admirable, and its latest record, 2014's "Massive Cauldron of Chaos," is a commendable continuation of their tried-and-true sound.
1349 will perform with Tombs, Full of Hell, and Enthauptung on Monday, January 18, at the Bug Jar, 219 Monroe Avenue. 8 p.m. $13.49-$17. bugjar.com; legion1349.com.
