METALCORE | We Came As Romans

Detroit-based rockers We Came As Romans piques my interest, but honestly I don't always understand metalcore bands. I'm more of a metal purist kind of guy. That said, the energy of We Came As Romans feels as real as a punch to the face. The sextet is grounded in vocalists David Stephens and Kyle Pavone, along with a solid, skillfully played backbone that makes the abrasion sound beautiful. Devour the Day, I Set My Friends On Fire, Aphasia, and Into the Harbor will also perform.

We Came As Romans performs Sunday, November 8, at Water Street Music Hall, 204 North Water Street. 6 p.m. $17-$20. waterstreetmusic.com; wecameasromans.com.
