True to her ย campaign promise, County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo has introduced legislation to create a county Public Integrity Office (see below).

Legislators will take the proposal up during committee meetings later this month. A public hearing and vote on the legislation will most likely take place at the March 8 County Legislature meeting.ย

The Public Integrity Office would be able to examine all county operations, as well as the operations and finances of specific county departments, and it would have the authority to investigate concerns about county government raised by residents. It would also be able to make recommendations to improve county finances and operations and wouldย produce an annual report to the county executive and Legislature.

The office would also have the authority to report its findings to law enforcement.

The county executive would appoint the office’s director and the Legislature would confirm that appointment.

  1. Good to see a Democrat’s idea put into action . Now just do it right and give the Dem’s their credit.
