MUSIC: I’m a big fan of the squeeze box, and there’s just
something about a good ol’ southern Creole stomp that
gets the blood boiling. If that sounds up your alley, you don’t want to miss Sammy Naquin and Big Easy Zydeco tonight
at Abilene (153 Liberty Pole Way, abilenebarandlounge.com, $8-$12), fresh from
the capital of zydeco/Cajun music, New Orleans herself. The musical feast kicks
off at 8 p.m.
ART: “1975 Gallery is
Haunted!” Well, the four-year anniversary show for
the gallery, now located at 89 Charlotte St., is filled with spooky and creeptastic artworks by a variety of artists. Check the
show out through November 17; today’s hours are noon-8 p.m. Admission is free.

MUSIC: No one can destroy the metal, and it comes in full
force tonight at the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave., bugjar.com, $8-$10). Leading the
way to the top of the mighty metal mountain is Witch Mountain, from Portland, with Rochester’s own Orodruin and San
Francisco-based Castle opening up the
night. Music starts at 9 p.m., so get those fists
ready to be pumped and heads ready to be bobbed.

Blues is starting a weekly residency at Temple Bar and Grill (109 East

week through November. Never heard of them? The dub-meets-hip-hop-meets-DJ six-person
crew is bound to get you up and moving around. Music starts at 10 p.m., and is
the best price of all: free.
LECTURE: David Ruch will give a
presentation on “The War of 1812: Songs
and Stories from New York and Beyond” tonight, 7:30 p.m., at Geneva
Historical Society (543 S. Main St., Geneva). The event is free to attend. For

MUSIC: A-Pub Live (6 Lawrence St.) is putting on a special
show tonight, featuring the live musical act that is DJ VS. VJ. Coming in from Albany, the dynamic duo mixes up live sets right on the fly,
mashing together the musical world of DJ Nick Papa Giorgio and the visual world
of Roy Buckley VJ. The party gets started at 10 p.m., admission $3-$10.
MUSIC: Looking for something a little more like the
traditional fare? Jeremy Button will
be hosting a Scottish music session tonight at McGraw’s Irish Pub (146 W.
Commercial St., East Rochester, mcgrawsirishpub.com) 7-9 p.m. It’s free, and
sure, it’s Scottish music at an Irish pub, but we can all get together for
music for at least one night, can’t we?
