MUSIC: What a long strange trip it’s been for comedy metal
punk group Green Jelly. What began
as Green Jello, the world’s worst band in Buffalo,
NY, Green Jelly relocated to Hollywood and scored a surprise hit with “Three Little
Pigs.” The group’s decades-long career has been characterized by a twisted
sense of humor that leaves no cow sacred. The band’s initial reputation for
food fights or songs about serial-killer breakfast cereal characters might not
be everybody’s cup of soup but it might be just right for you and your pumpkin.
And if the jelly hits the fan, duck and cover. Psyopus
and Beard Without a Moustache open tonight at the Bug

MUSIC: Not to say that all performances aren’t special, but
some are just slightly more memorable, both for bands and fans, and CD release
parties tend to top that list. Local self-dubbed “space fusion” group Hawea will be
celebrating its debut album release “Deadwet Soundwaves” at Montage Music Hall (50 Chestnut St.,
themontagemusichall.com) tonight. It’ll be bringing along SKooba
and Project Weather Machine for the ride, as well as live art by Amanda
McLaughlin. Music starts at 8 p.m.; tickets run $5-$8.

MUSIC: Boregore has that kind of music that makes you feel like you
need a shower– but in a good way. With a dash of chip music, a snappy synthetic
beat and raps that sound suspiciously like grime with a twist of sexual
frustration, somehow overall the whole effect is very glittery until the beat
drops– at which point all bets are off and it’s about to get filthy. While the
lyrics are certainly… suggestive, there is no doubt that these are some catchy
mixes, and they have attracted such artists as Miley Cyrus and Diplo. Local DJs
Keto and Prophet will be opening with their eclectic
mixes tonight at Water Street Music Hall (204 North Water St.,
waterstreetmusic.com, 9 p.m., $20-$25).

MUSIC: This Friday night, the Eastman Rochester Organ Initiative unveils the newest addition to
its organ restoration project: an 1893 Hook and Hastings Organ, recently
installed in Christ Church (141 East Ave., 8 p.m., free). Music will be
performed by Edoardo Bellotti,
David Higgs, Stephen Kennedy, and William Porter, organists, as well as the
Christ Church ScholaCantorum.
According to Higgs, chair of the Organ and Historical Keyboards Department at
Eastman School of Music, “The organ’s unique, burnished sound gives listeners
the opportunity to hear music from the Romantic period performed on a
historically appropriate instrument.”
THEATER: As we draw nearer and nearer to the holiday season,
Santa Claus and his eight tiny reindeer remind us to always believe in the
