Warren resigns City Council seat

Rochester Mayor-elect Lovely Warren has resigned her seat on City Council. Warren has been on Council for six years, and has been that body's president since 2010.

Christopher Thomas, spokesperson for Warren's transition team, released a statement just moments ago, announcing Warren's resignation. The statement will follow this blog.

City Council now has 30 days to select a replacement for Warren. Council will also have to elect a new president and a vice president at the start of the new year. Dana Miller is the current vice president of Council.

Warren's replacement will have to live in the northeast quadrant of the city — the quadrant that Warren represented during her time on Council.
