Cohousing group frustrated in search
The Flower City Cohousing Community is having a tough time finding the right site to build its planned multigenerational development. The group has been looking for three or four years, says coordinator Jane Ellen Bleeg. “This is dragging on a little longer than we had really hoped it would, but you have to have the […]
Downtown’s patron saint
Much of what you see when you catch a glimpse of the city’s skyline is part of Larry Glazer’s real estate empire. Glazer’s company, Buckingham Properties, either owns, co-owns, or manages nearly 13 million square feet of real estate space, including some of downtown Rochester’s most iconic buildings: Midtown Tower, Xerox Square, and the Bausch […]

Gannett selling D and C building
Want to buy an old newspaper building? The Democrat and Chronicle reports that its 55 Exchange Boulevard building is being put up for sale by its parent company, Gannett. D and C employees should be in a new space in the City of Rochester by mid-2014, says the article. The D and C has downsized […]
NEWS BLOG: MCC: Afghanistan campus?
First, I need to set the scene: Monroe County Executive Maggie Brooks met with the Democrat and Chronicle editorial board last week. Board members Tweeted choice nuggets throughout the meeting, including what they say Brooks said about MCC. The gist: If the project stays on its current course, it is likely doomed to failure, and […]
