Mayor: city will not go all out for theater
Don’t expect the City of Rochester to swoop in with a sweet offer to convince RBTL to build its new theater in downtown Rochester. If RBTL is serious about going to Irondequoit, Mayor Tom Richards says, it’ll go with his blessing. “I’m trying to be consistent with respect to what I think the civic responsibility […]

UPDATE: In a voice mail earlier today, RBTL board chair Arnie Rothschild said that the league has never attempted to raise money for a new theater, because city officials have never come out and said they want the theater. RBTL wouldn’t fund raise, he said, until the city made the theater project a priority. Rothschild […]

Caccamise mentioned the discussions […]

And now, Arnie Rothschild, chair of Rochester Broadway Theatre League’s board, says that Congel has agreed to build a 3,000-seat theater, […]

Earlier this year, RBTL signed a memorandum of understanding with Medley Centre developer Scott Congel. Channel 10 reports that Congel and RBTL representatives are negotiating an operating agreement.
I-Square’s many questions
I-Square, a mix of shops, offices, and apartments meant to revitalize a section of Titus Avenue in Irondequoit, is at a standstill. That’s because town officials and the project’s developers, Irondequoit residents Mike and Wendy Nolan, don’t see eye-to-eye on a proposed tax agreement. Last week, the town approved a 10-year payment in lieu of […]
