River Romance
weekend continues Saturday and Sunday, and includes Charlotte
Genesee Lighthouse tours, marriage vow renewals on the banks of the Genesee,
“haunted” gorge tours, live music, and a Twilight River Romance

MUSIC: On its debut EP, local electro-pop duo KOPPS enthusiastically tangle
themselves in a theme, and thrust forward repeatedly to establish it
thoroughly. Avoiding any confusion of their aim on the EP, entitled “Fuck Jams,”
the outfit has crafted six songs regarding, resembling, and investigating sex.
Revel in the experience on the stage at Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave., bugjar.com)
Saturday night. Joywave, The Wallpaper and The Branch
Davidians will be sharing the stage. Showtime 9 p.m.,

THEATER: This weekend, Downstairs Cabaret (3450 Winton
Place) will host “Pearl Bailey by
Request: A Night in the Life of a Legend,”
which shares the story of the
performer’s fascinating life working on stage and in film, and includes many of
her most beloved songs. Performances take place Saturday at 3 & 8 p.m. and

MUSIC: Time flies when you’re having fun, or when you’re
opening up a second location for your restaurant and adding in a new music
stage to the offerings. Come down to the second night of Sticky Lips Juke
Joint’s (830 Jefferson Rd., stickylipsbbq.com) anniversary party on Saturday,
featuring a performance by local rockers The
Isotopes
. It’s only $3, doors open at 9 p.m.

SPECIAL EVENT: The Finger
Lakes Cheese Trail
will host an open house Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5
p.m., during which participating farms will offer samples of their goods to

FESTIVAL: The 31st Annual Fall Harvest Festival will take place Sunday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Helmer Nature Center (154 Pinegrove Ave., Irondequoit), and
will feature demos, pony rides, horse-drawn hay wagons, games, crafts, kids activities, and
entertainment. Admission is free, but there is a nominal charge for some

KIDS: Sunday, 5:30-7:30 p.m. is Family Night at the Seneca Park Zoo (2222 St. Paul St.), which will

SPECIAL EVENT: On Sunday, 3-11 p.m., Water Street Music Hall
(204 N. Water St.) will host Raise the Roof, a benefit
for the Genesee Center for the Arts and Education. The event will feature Moon
Zombies, Driftwood Sailors, Krypton 88, and Steve Grills, as well as raffles,
auction items, food, drinks, and a Buffalo Bills screening room so you don’t

FESTIVAL: The Fall
Festival
, featuring the Agricultural Society Fair and Mayor’s Cup Base Ball
Championship, will take place Saturday and Sunday at the Genesee Country

DANCE: Complexions
Contemporary Ballet

MUSIC: Let the revolution begin! If you didn’t get enough
last night, head on down to Montage Music Hall (50 Chestnut St., themontagemusichall.com,

Strikes, Abhor, and more acts ready to rock your face off. Tickets only cost
$8-$10, doors open at 5 p.m., so get down early and get ready to viva la
revolution.

ART: The annual Glass
Pumpkin Sale
will take place on Saturday, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., in the Red Barn
on the west side of RIT Campus in Henrietta. Shop for

MUSIC: Where’s the fire at on Saturday night? The Firehouse
Saloon (814 S. Clinton Ave.) of course! Eat Here Records is putting on a
showcase of local rock/punk acts, including Envious Disguise, Keaton, Anchorage Nebraska, Intrinsic, and Comedown. Get down there at 8 p.m. and
get ready to mosh away your worries with some of the best boys in town.

RECREATION: The George Eastman House annual Photo Finish 5K will take place
Saturday at 8 a.m. The race begins at the Eastman House (900 East Ave.), and
serves to raise funds for the Eastman House and other local not-for-profit

MUSIC: And best band name of the week goes to the Flying Sideburns, playing on Saturday
night at Jeffrey’s (3115 E. Henrietta Road, jeffreysbar.com). I’m not sure if
you are supposed to shave (or not) before the show, but it is 21 and over, so
leave the younguns at home. Price is $10, and music
starts at 2 p.m., so leave your afternoon open and ready for the Sideburns to
fly into your life.

MUSIC: Rani Arbo, Jeffrey Pepper Rodgers, and Maria Gillard are
swinging through town on their mini-upstate NY tour this Saturday, coming to
Tango Café (389 Gregory St., tangocafedance.com) and bringing each of their
unique styles of folk and acoustic music. Arbo is a
20-year-strong performance fiddler and singer, and this tour is the first
appearance of her solo work. Music starts at 8 p.m., tickets cost $10.
