MUSIC: Baltimore duo Wye
Oak takes its moniker from the honorary state tree of Maryland, a 460-year-old
white oak that was destroyed by a thunderstorm in 2002. The pair’s melodic
noise pop might not share their namesake’s longevity, but the duo emulates its
constant growth with each subsequent release. Its most
recent album, last year’s “Civilian,” found the duo at its most urgent and
accessible, with the title track being used on the soundtracks to multiple
television shows and movies. Brooklyn band Callers, as well as Rochester’s own
Archimedes, open this 8 p.m. at the Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave.). Tickets cost
