SPORTS: The RocCity Roller Derby will hold a home-team round robin, pitting The 5-H8-5’s vs. The Rottenchesters vs. The Midtown Maulers on Saturday at 6
p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.). The event takes place at the Dome Arena at the Fair

MUSIC: It just wouldn’t be October without at least one Rocktober Fest, and Saturday night Quaker Steak
& Lube (2205 Buffalo Road, quakersteakandlube.com) is presenting seven free
hours of music, a beer garden happy hour featuring your favorite of festival
fall beers, and of course, German beer wenches. The music starts off at 3 p.m.
with affiXXtion, with Household Pest and The Sound
Remains the Same continuing the party throughout the
night.
SPECIAL EVENT: Foam
N’ Glow, “American’s largest Floam Party,” will
be stopping back through Rochester Saturday night at the Main Street Armory
(900 E. Main St., rochestermainstreetarmory.com, $20-$40), mixing loud and
dance-ready party music presented by Savoy with pretty lights, lasers, and
foam. Who can say no to a party like that? The event runs 8 p.m.-midnight.
FESTIVAL: The Fairport
Scarecrow Festival takes place Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., in the Village of
Fairport, and will include music, entertainment, food, and kids’ activities.

THEATER: “Working,
a musical” debuts at the JCC Centerstage
(Jewish Community Center, 1200 Edgewood Dr.) on Saturday, at 8 p.m. The show
explores the dreams, joys, and fears of the real clock-punchers. Tickets for
“Working” are $18-$26, and the show will continue through October 28. For more

MUSIC: On the classical side, the whole month of October is
all about Debussy, with the Eastman School of Music presenting The Prismatic Debussy festival,
celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of French composer Claude
Debussy. Saturday night’s “Extravagant Debussy” will start at 8 p.m. at Kodak
Hall and feature the Eastman School Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia,
Wind Ensemble, and Chorale, and there are events running all month lengthening
the celebration. Many of the shows are free, and you can check out the whole

ART: Embrace the season at the Rochester Folk Art Guild’s Fall Open House and Sunday Apple Festival this weekend, held at
the guild’s headquarters (1445 Upper Hill Road, Middlesex). The fall open house
takes place Saturday and Sunday, 1-5 p.m., and includes open studios, demos,
and guild goods for sale. The Apple Festival takes place Sunday during the open
house hours, and includes music, apple goods, and orchard tours. Admission is

MUSIC: A cornucopia of music awaits
Saturday at Sticky Lips Juke Joint (830 Jefferson Rd., stickylipsbbq.com), with
roots and blues local group The Crawdiddies headlining, and finger-style jazz
guitarists Fred Vine and Brian Williams opening up. It’s sure to
be a good time down on the Sticky Stomp Stage, so grab some grub and head on
down. Doors open up at 8:30 p.m.; tickets run $8-$10.
RECREATION: Get some fresh air this weekend with the kids,
and join the free Family Fall Hike hosted by Thousand Acre Swamp Sanctuary (1581 Jackson Road) on Sunday at 10

MUSIC: New Orleans, while an obvious hotbed of musical
talent, is not the first metropolis to come to mind when discussing the state
of current indie rock. And yet, there’s Generationals, a duo from the Crescent City that plies a
nostalgic brand of shiny pop/rock, updated to reflect modern musical
sensibilities. They’ve released two full-length albums and the pair is now
touring on the back of their recently released EP, titled “Lucky Numbers.” The
twosome makes a stop here in Rochester at Bug Jar (219 Monroe Ave., bugjar.com)
on Sunday at 9 p.m.; cover $10-$12.
