ART: Celebrate the grand opening of 1975 Gallery‘s permanent spot at 89 Charlotte St. on Saturday, 7-10
p.m. The event includes an opening reception for “Home is Where the Art
Is,” an exhibit featuring local favorites in a variety of media and

THEATER: Take in a performance of “You Can’t Take it With You,” a screwball comedy about a
marriage between people from very different backgrounds, at Geva

FESTIVAL: The Greentopia Festival in
High Falls wraps up this weekend with films, music, and an ecofest

SPECIAL EVENT: Check out five beautiful homes in the Historic Maplewood Home Tour Saturday,

Rose Garden (corner of Lake Ave and Driving Park, Rochester) for the Festival
of Lanterns, which will include illuminated lanterns, a drum circle, and music

ART: The 19th Annual
Finger Lakes Fiber Arts Festival takes place this weekend at the Hemlock
Fairgrounds (1 Fair Street, Hemlock), and features exhibits, workshops, free
demonstrations, and nearly 100 vendors selling supplies and equipment. The
festival opens at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday, and admission is $5 (free to age

ART: The 8th Annual Artist
Row takes place on Sunday 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Rochester Public Market
(280 N. Union St.). Admission is free, and more information can be found at
marketfriends.org. All visitors to Artist Row are invited to partake of Zombies Care: A Family-Friendly Zombie Walk.
Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the loading docks (door 2) of the Hungerford Building
(1115 E. Main St.) for zombie make-up tips, cider and donuts. Admission is the
donation of an unused toiletry for Sample Soap. Then at 10:30 a.m., the group
will shamble down to the market for some cultured brains. For information, call

SPECIAL EVENT: Writers & Books will host an Eat, Pray, Love
Gala on Saturday starting at 7 p.m., at the Century Club (566 East Ave.).
The event features live music, performances by local youth writers, a silent
auction including items from authors Elizabeth Gilbert, Debra Dean, and Ann Patchett, as well as Italian, Indian, and Indonesian fare.

MUSIC: What happens in the Vegas stays in Vegas, though some
things are best probably not forgotten. Local pop rockers Forget Me in Vegasare returning for a

MUSIC: Raise a glass, raise your foot, and get ready to
throw down with the stomping, roaring threesome that is Devil Makes Three at Water Street Music Hall (204 N. Water St.) Saturday. Guitar, string bass, and the occasional banjo
create a bluegrass sound and vibe that roars and soars with rhythm that will
bring you to your feet and not let them go. The group may be rooted in
tradition, but it’s fresh enough to be worthy of your dancing embrace. Brown
Bird opens up the night, jamming starts at 9 p.m.,

MUSIC: Jukebox the
Ghost‘s most recent album, “Safe Travels,” is the band’s third, and it
showcases the outfit’s penchant for quirky pop that falls somewhere in the Ben
Folds spectrum. That might be an easy comparison, but the album is replete with
enough piano riffs and sing-along hooks to sate even the most jaded consumers
of pop music. Get ready to get down with them at Water Street Music Hall (204
N. Water St.) Sunday at 7 p.m., and the show costs only $12-$18.

MUSIC: Both KISS and Motley Crue are probably the only two in a pile of almost-vintage rock bands that haven’t
undone their cool or stayed at the party too long. It’s interesting to point
out that both bands owe a debt of gratitude to The New York Dolls, a band that
left the party too early that inspired KISS and the Crue
with its glam hedonism and fatal attraction to excess. I’ve seen both the bands
in the last few years and both give the fans what we want: nothing new, but
what we want nonetheless. The rock goes on at Darien Lake PAC (9993 Alleghany

MUSIC: You know the songs: “In the Mood,” “Tuxedo Junction,”
“Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree (With Anyone Else But
