On Monday, the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School will host a screening of Ava DuVernay’s vital, eye-opening documentary “13th” as part of the organization’s “When I was in Prison…Restoring Dignity and Justice” lecture series. Nominated for Best Documentary Feature at last year’s Academy Awards, the film examines the 13th Amendment, drawing a direct line from the legacy of slavery in the United States to today’s systemic mass incarceration of African-American men. A moderated discussion will follow the film screening.
A screening of “13th” will take place Monday, April 17, at the Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School, 1100 South Goodman Street. 7 p.m. Admission to the event is free, though registration is required. For registration information, visit crcds.edu or call 340-9643.
