First Friday art openings will take place despite the Fourth of July weekend. So if you’re in town, check out the following show receptions and open
studios. The following highlights are just a few of the events offered tomorrow;

All events run 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight, and are free to attend unless otherwise
stated.
Hungerford Open Studios (Hungerford Building, 1115 East Main Street) spotlights many galleries and
studios conveniently all in one place. Friday’s list of participants includes Hungerford
240, currently spotlighting enamel artist Patty Zachman’s
Fire Paint Studios jewelry, and Kathleen Kosel
Steelworks. Other open studios include Francesca De Caire,
Create Art 4 Good, Kumagama Clay Studio and Gallery, Uddici, Chenille Macabre, Bob World, Christopher Little
jewelry design & repair, Sew Artistic: Julia Deal & friends, Cindy Kuhn

Check out “Barakoa:
The African Masquerade Project,” held simultaneously at Baobab Cultural Center (728
University Avenue) and Image City Photography Gallery (722
University Avenue). The exhibit documents the Barakoa:
The African Masquerade project, which took place in July of 2014 when master
costume artist Darryl Montana conducted
an intensive week-long workshop in the New Orleans tradition. This show features
photographic work by Arzouma Kompaore,
Todd Fleming, Steve Levinson, Don Menges, Dick
Bennett, Betsy Phillips, and John Solberg. The exhibits continue through July

“Hello, World: Recent Work from the RIT School of Design” opens Friday at Gallery r (100
College Avenue). Students from the College of Imaging Arts & Sciences
School of Design present recent work from Graphic Design, 3-D Digital Design,
Industrial Design, Interior Design, New Media Design, and Visual Communications
Design Programs. The show stays up through July 26. For more information, call 242-9470
