Video Game Review: Mario Tennis Open

Iโ€™ve never really gotten along with tennis. Ask my high school gym teacher: He made an effort to catch the comedy hour that was my group’s attempt to keep the ball in play and get a volley going.
Perhaps that’s why I have fond memories of playing “Mario Tennis.” It counted as playing a sport, right? But, “Mario Tennis: Open,” the 3DS offering, feels a little light on the Mario, and isnโ€™t the ace I had hoped for.

Video Game Review: Kid Icarus Uprising

Not since Retro Studios rebooted the dormant โ€œMetroidโ€ franchise has a seemingly lost Nintendo series been reinvented with such care, craft, and charm. Itโ€™s been 20 years since gamers have seen Pit and the โ€œKid Icarusโ€ series, and โ€œKid Icarus: Uprisingโ€ has not only redefined the series, but has given gamers one of the best original Nintendo titles on the 3DS yet.

A kick-ass rock and roll show

The Boston punk scene has given us many great bands over the years, and Far From Finished is another testament to Beantownโ€™s mighty musical legacy. This weekend the band is opening for The Queers and The Ataris at the Bug Jar, bringing to the stage nearly 10 years of road-tested songs and experience. Gypsies, tramps, and Thieves

As the adage goes, it takes a village to raise a child. But for the musical offspring of Fuzz and Carrie Sangiovanni, it took a caravan. It started as a love story. Carrie was living in Burlington, Vermont, and Fuzz just came up and said hello. That one hello must have been enough: five months later the couple was engaged, and the two started making music a month after that.
