There’s no shortage of free options for the frugal jazz
lover at the 2015 Rochester International Jazz Festival. In fact, this year’s
festival boasts a total of 93 free shows across 6 venues in its nine-day run.
These venues, of course, can become a bit cramped, so be
sure to claim your spot early in order to watch the bands instead of a sea of
the backs of people’s heads. For the most up to date information on schedules
and line-up changes, visit the Jazz Festival’s website, and follow @roccitynews on Twitter for coverage on everything Jazz Fest.

Friday – Very disappointed in the free shows so far this year. Opening night Friday was awful, was hoping to embrace Sauce boss and Mavericks (1 star)based on the hyped up descriptions but only took a few songs each to lose my interest. The Sauce Boss guy was a disaster, (0 stars)
Saturday – goodbyemotel was awesome (5 stars), Blood Seat and Tears also pretty good (4 stars)
Wednesday – Gyrophilia – again very disappointed compared to the hyped up descriptions, tried for 4 or 5 songs but ugggh (2 stars)
Only 1 out of 3 worthwhile nights for me, don’t recall not finding enjoyable music somewhere on a given night last year, maybe I just got lucky/unluck on the nights I went?
Can someone tell me why/how they are putting Trombone Shorty at Chestnut/East? There is NO way to fit that people in that small of an area (compared to the East/ Alexander stage he usually is at.
