Democratic County Executive candidate Sandy Frankel picked up a couple of high-profile Democratic endorsements today.

House Representative Louise Slaughter and State Assembly member Harry Bronson threw their support behind Frankel this morning, during a press conference announcing the opening of a Frankel campaign office on Lyell Avenue. They emphasized Frankel’s experience serving 20 years as Brighton supervisor.

“She knows municipal government,” Slaughter said. “She knows the pitfalls, she knows what can happen. This is no time for amateurs.”

Bronson, a former Monroe County legislator, said that experience will be necessary to turn county government around. Republicans have misrepresented the county’s financial state, he said, and produced budgets that rely on inflated revenues and one-shots. As Brighton supervisor, Frankel put together solid budgets while dealing with state mandates, he said. She’ll do that as county executive “with fairness and a sense of equity,” Bronson said.

Frankel faces Republican Cheryl Dinolfo and Green Party candidate Rajesh Barnabas in the November election.

  1. What about Rochester mayor, Lovely Warren? Will she endorse Sandra Frankel for the benefit of a Greater Rochester?

  2. “This is no time for amateurs.” LS

Where were you with this advice the last 2 presidential elections Louise?

  3. Is this news? It might be news if local Dems did not endorse Frankel. And who cares who Lovely endorses?

  4. I want you all to open your blinds and look to the south and observe the reason why we have such a political stench drifting in our direction, you will note Washington DC. You can see the political smoke and the reason why a Trump emerges. People are fed up with the politics as usual, bashing, lying, demeaning and supporting of local candidates just because. Democrats endorsing democrats and Republicans endorsing Republicans. I say, DUH! Nothing new to report here, same old stuff different day. And constituents, if you think your candidate gives a hoot about your concerns, your wants, your needs,….think again for they could give a hoot less about you with the exception of election day. That’s when they get their OK, their go ahead, to do whatever is beneficial for the party. There are very few exceptions. I know, I know,….. your candidate is the exception.
