Molly Clifford, City Councilmember for the Northwest District, has decided not to seek re-election.  Clifford, who is serving the last year of her first four-year term on City Council, made the announcement earlier today on Facebook. Clifford serves on Council’s finance committee and the arts and culture committee.

Clifford said in her post that her business is growing and it demands more of her time, including travel time, “which will compromise my ability to serve at the level that Northwest residents should expect.” 

Clifford’s announcement comes just a week after long-time Councilmember Elaine Spaull said she’s not seeking re-election.

Clifford was formerly assistant general manager of Rural/Metro Medical Services, now AMR, and more recently she directed the Rochester Fire Department’s neighborhood services and administration.

  1. She’s pretty much made the rounds of patronage jobs in the city, with zero accomplishments that I can think of, so, goodbye. Meanwhile she has business interests out of town?? Does anyone else find that interesting? As the city and this newspaper is all about diversity, how about replace her with a republican?
