Minister Franklin Florence Sr., a long-time religious and civil rights leader in Rochester, is calling for people from all over the region to join him in a “United Community Response to Donald Trump’s Ongoing Hatred and Racism.” The community response will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 17, at the historicÂ
Central Church of Christ, 101 South Plymouth Avenue.Â
“Minister Franklin Florence Sr. has called us together to develop a united community response and to demand an apology regarding Donald Trump’s ongoing hateful, racist, rhetoric and policies — the latter of which are causing devastatingly negative effects on the lives of millions of poor people of color,” Minister Clifford Florence Sr. said at a press conference earlier today.
Earlier this year, Franklin Florence Sr. began holding weekly strategy sessions at FIGHT Village with community members. Rochester, especially because of its relationship to Frederick Douglass, must take a stand against Trump and institutional and individual racism in this country, Florence has said.
“He asked us to think about what people like Trump would probably do if there was no resistance,” Clifford Florence said at today’s event. “Trump is doing more damage than we can provably repair or get over in a few years. In fact, it make take decades.”
More than 40 religious, civil rights, and community advocacy groups are supporting the event on Saturday. Speakers will address institutional and individual racism in the US, as well as discuss some of Trump’s opinions and policy decisions. Saturday’s event is open to the public and will be followed by a march to the Liberty Pole.Â
There will also be a sign-making party in advance of the event at 6 p.m. Friday, February 16, at FIGHT Village, 186 Ward Street.

There is zero evidence that Trump is racist or a hater. In fact, Trump probably employs thousands of minorities. I’m sure there are many ex-employees. I’ve never heard a single cry of racism. He’s working for ALL Americans. The real question is why does this paper and others hate HIM so much?

Gotta admit, that vox is pretty funny stuff.
There’s endless evidence.

The D&C is reporting that hundreds of demonstrators showed up yesterday. I would think the supporting groups would be very embarrassed that they could only turn out about 15 people per organization. Sounds like even their own members were not interested.
