Columbia Care has reached an agreement with Eastman Kodak Company to use of more than 200,000 square feet on the site to create a medical marijuana cultivation facility and dispensary, according to a statement from the company.

Columbia Care currently operates in five states and has created one of the first national medical marijuana patient registries.

Applications to operate a medical marijuana facility in New York State were due on June 5 and selections will be announced later this year.

“With the passage of the Compassionate Care Act, we believe New York is well-positioned to be at the vanguard of medical marijuana patient care,” said Michael Alt, director of the Eastman Business Park, in a written statement.ย 

Columbia Care says that its proposal would create 250 jobs in the Rochester area.ย

  2. How did the NY state legislature, with no apparent medical or pharmacological expertise or authority, decide that pot was a medicine? The US Food and Drug Administration, responsible for approving and monitoring the safety and effectiveness of drugs, does not recognize or approve of medical pot. Apparently New York State will take on that responsibility (and liability?). New York State will also tell doctors how they are to prescribe medical pot, bypass the pharmaceutical industry which normally manufactures drugs, and assume the role pharmacists who are licensed to dispense drugs. What will all of this new state bureaucracy cost?

  3. If you really look at stats about overdoses weed is not one of the causes. But for the cancer patients it helps,them,eat and function in society safely and less nervous feeling

  4. What are they going to dispense? In all the other states it’s marijuana. These VERY SICK patients should be free to choose to smoke marijuana. Their DOCTOR says they can.
