A proposed canal side apartment development in the Village of Pittsford has hit another roadblock.
Mark IV Enterprises wants to build 167 high-end apartments at 75 Monroe Avenue, a brownfield at the edge of the village. But this afternoon, the village’s Architecture and Preservation Review Board rejected the developer’s designs for the buildings.
Mayor Bob Corby says the board voted 3 to 2 against Mark IV’s application. The board felt that the buildings were too tall and “voluminous” and that they didn’t fit in with the rest of the village’s architecture, he says.
The developer has already received special permits for the project, and recently the village Planning and Zoning Board approved the layout and building footprints. But the project still needs a few approvals, and an APRB sign-off is one of them. And the relationship between Mark IV, some village officials, and residents opposed to the project has grown very contentious.
Mark IV can submit another set of designs for APRB consideration, but they have to differ significantly from those the board voted down.
