The state board looking into the wages of fast-food workers meets this week in Buffalo. Metro Justice plans to bring a bus full of people to the meeting.
The bus leaves from Metro Justice, 803 West Avenue, at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, and returns to Rochester at 2 p.m. the same day. Metro Justice is among the organizations advocating for a $15 hourly wage for fast-food workers.

The Green Party of Monroe County and the Rochester Organization for Workplace Democracy will show the documentary film “Shift Change” at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 18.
During a time of American manufacturing decline, filmmakers Melissa Young Mark Dworkin show employee-owned businesses that are competing successfully in the global economy.

Chili officials will hold an open house on the Chili Center master plan from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, May 18, at Town Hall, 3333 Chili Avenue.
Town officials plan to evolve the hamlet of Chili Center into a walkable town center with a variety of businesses and services. The master plan will provide a blueprint for those efforts by laying out design guidelines for buildings, projects to make the hamlet more pedestrian- and bike-friendly, and potential uses for town-owned property in the area.
Seneca Park Zoo will hold an open house for the public to see initial designs for possible future improvements. It will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at the zoo, 2222 St. Paul Street.
Zoo representatives will be stationed with design boards at corresponding future improvement areas in the north, center, and south areas of the facility. The open house will be held rain or shine. BY JEREMY MOULE

$15 per hour just to say “would you like fries with that”? A computer terminal could do that and once you press enter another machine will start the cooking process and spit out your order., with no human error. The owner can stop by once a day to restock the system.
Why is it that the left— sorry, I mean the “highly educated” and “intelligent” left ideas are never solutions. They just make the original situation worse, and create more poverty.
Eliminate the minimum wage so people can at least get a start in this world and watch the growth of both the economy and people’s self esteem (and wages).
Long live capitalism.
