Tuesday is Election Day and polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The county executive race between Republican Cheryl Dinolfo, Democrat Sandy Frankel, and Green Party candidate Rajesh Barnabas is the big countywide contest, though the district attorney is also on the ballot. All County Legislature seats are up for election, as are the district seats for City Council, and some seats in the suburbs.
The Monroe County Board of Elections has an online tool that voters can use to find out where to vote, and what races are on their ballots. It can be accessed at http://www.monroecounty.gov/etc/voter/. The board’s office can be reached at (585) 753-1550.

An anonymous gun buyback will be held from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, at Miracle Deliverance Faith Center, 69 Whitney Street.
Functioning and nonfunctioning guns will be accepted. People who turn in a functioning handgun will receive a $100 Wegmans gift card. If you turn in a functioning long gun, you will receive a $50 Wegmans gift card. There is a $300 per person limit, however.

Third Presbyterian Church will present “Climate Connections” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday, November 2. The meeting will offer insight and tools to empower people to fight climate change, as well as a way to connect with others who are concerned with the coming climate crisis. The event will be held at Third Presbyterian, 4 Meigs Street.
Rochester Institute of Technology will host the IEEE Electronic Devices Society’s annual Western New York conference from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 6. The conference will feature a wide range of speakers offering insight into Rochester’s role in the AIM Photonics initiative. The event will be held in Louise Slaughter Hall at RIT.
The Community Design Center Rochester will hold the “El Camino Revitalization Area Community Charrette” from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 7. The charrette is sponsored by the city and Ibero-American Development Corporation to gather ideas and input from residents concerning the neighborhood. Moving Beyond Racism Book Group will meet at 7p.m. today, Monday, November 2, to discuss “The Invention of Wings.”
The Sue Monk Kidd novel chronicles the life of sisters who are in the headwinds of the abolitionist and women’s rights movements. The story is told by Hetty, a slave who was given to one of the girls as a birthday present.
The group will meet at Barnes & Noble, Pittsford Plaza.
The Rochester school board will have a 6:30 p.m. work session on Thursday, November 5, to begin identifying budget priorities for the 2016-2017 school year. The meeting will be held at the district’s central office, 131 West Broad Street, Room 3A. BY TIM LOUIS MACALUSO
