Chevalier Fabien des Grieux (John Barrymore) is a divinity student living in France. He breaks from the church when he meets the beautiful Manon Lescaut (Dolores Costello). They spend only one weekend together before Manon's brother (Warner Oland) sells her to the evil Count de Montfontaine (Sam De Grasse). Fabien is heartbroken, but, when he learns Montfontaine plans to deport Manon, he sneaks onto her ship and causes a mutiny, which allows the pair to escape. - Synopsis courtesy of Tribune Media Service
