The
elegance and charm of early 20th century architecture are captured
in this Colonial Revival style home, built in 1910, at 306 Rosedale
Street. The grand front porch with its
six stately round columns spans the front of the home and is the perfect place
to sit and relax drinking lemonade or iced coffee on Rochester’s warm summer
days. Through the oak front door, which
features beveled plate glass, is an inviting foyer with entrances to the living
room and to a room the perfect size for a small office. A cast plaster floral
motif circles the ceiling light fixture in the side room.
The
living room and the adjoining dining room, which may be separated by hardwood
pocket doors, each include leaded glass bay windows that showcase a stained
glass red rose design. The dining room
is graced by a second set of four stained and leaded glass windows featuring
the same rose emblem. Adjacent to the
dining room is a small room offering an entrance to the kitchen and an entrance
to the front hall through a swinging door.
These downstairs rooms have well-maintained oak floors, and the natural
chestnut trim throughout the home is of exceptional quality.
From
the dining room is the entrance to a full downstairs bathroom with a bathtub
and shower. Sparkling green glass tiles
enhance the white ceramic tile walls and floor in the room.
The
main stairway to the second floor is accessed through the small front office
room. At the landing are several leaded
glass windows and a door to an adjoining back staircase leading from the
kitchen area. Four medium-sized
bedrooms, each with a large closet, flank the upstairs hall. One of the bedrooms includes a full kitchen
sink and cabinets. This sink is ideal for craft or painting projects. A blue and white tiled floor accents the
upstairs full bathroom with tub and shower
This
backyard, with carefully landscaped rock-lined flowerbeds and vegetable
planters, is perfect for the avid gardener.
There are spacious areas for storage of garden equipment inside the
house and in an outdoor garden shed.
Three
Hundred Six Rosedale Street, off of Monroe Avenue, is in Rochester’s Upper
