Daily Choices: What to do on Thursday, December 27 

MUSIC: It’s always great to see local musicians coming together for a good cause, and tonight you have a chance to give back at X-Fest, a benefit Concert for the victims of the Newtown tragedy at California Brew Haus (402 Ridge Road West). Over ten acts will be there, music starts at 8 p.m. and costs $5, with all proceeds going to the cause.

MUSIC: This Webster native’s voice is as pretty as she is. Having made the coffeehouse scene here in Rochester with No Strings Attached, Kate Lee is now stirring things up in Nashville. With her fiddle as well as her pipes and pulchritude, Lee has shared her talents and the sage with artists like Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, and Vince Gill. KIDS: Spice up holiday break by talking with local scientists and meeting live animals at the RMSC’s Holiday Science & Technology Days. Fun experiements in engineering, chemistry, and other fields. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. $11-$13. 657 East Ave. 271-4320. rmsc.org.

THEATER: Explore a different side of Shakespeare that’s slightly jumbled, but a little easier to interpret at ShakeCo’s “Tales from Shakespeare.” An original tale created from Shakespeare’s works like “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Hamlet,” and “Love’s Labours Lost” catered to a younger audience. $5-$7.50. 7 p.m. Continues through Sunday, December 30. MUSIC: Were you naughty or nice this year? A saint or a sinner? Either way, you should make it down to check out Gary Trainer and the Sin Walkers rocking it out tonight at Tala Vera (155 State St., tala-vera.com). Music starts at 8 p.m., price $5.
