Garth Fagan Dance appoints leadership team

Garth Fagan Dance announced yesterday the creation and appointment of two new administrative positions. Karen Brown was named the company's executive director, and Stephanie Harris is now its development director.

The two positions will help "sustain the legacy of GFD, expand the strong foundation built over the last 45 years, and shepherd the company into the next 45 years," says a GFD announcement.

As executive director, Brown -- a Rochester native, former artistic director of Oakland Ballet Company, and Bessie Award winner -- will be responsible for guiding the company's long-range strategic plan while also managing its day-to-day operations, and will operate as a supportive and collaborative partner to company Founder and Artistic Director Garth Fagan.

Harris, an East Rochester native, has focused her career on non-profit management and fundraising, with positions at the United Way and the University of Cincinnati Foundation, and as director of development for the Cincinnati Ballet.
