SPECIAL EVENT: Flower City Comic Con 

You don't have to have super powers to be considered a superhero. Flower City Comic Con (FC3) is giving its patrons the opportunity to do something a little extra extraordinary this year by teaming up with the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) Association Upstate NY Chapter to raise awareness of the organization and how it can help those affected by ALS. You can set up your own fundraiser page to directly help the cause, and anyone who raises $150 or more will receive free admission to the convention (more details at fc3roc.com). So no need for the cape to show your superhero prowess...though cosplay is strongly encouraged, so yeah, put that cape on.

FC3 will host a weekend of nerdom featuring special guests, including Catherine Sutherlands, best known for playing Kat Hillard, the second pink Power Ranger from the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers;" Beth Broderick, from "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch;" former WWE wrestler and hall of famer Jake "The Snake" Roberts; and others. The convention will also feature vendors selling comics, toys, and art; attractions such as free zombie makeovers; a special screening of "The Fifth Element;" industry artists; and more.

FC3 programming takes place Saturday, June 9, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (vender floor closes at 7 p.m.); and Sunday, June 10, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center (123 East Main Street). Weekend admission is $25, Saturday only is $20, and Sunday only is $15. fc3roc.com.
