SPECIAL EVENT | 'Listen to Your Mother'

The annual spoken word event, "Listen to Your Mother," celebrates being a mother, having a mother, and the lifetime journey of motherhood. It's a grassroots phenomenon with more than 250 productions in communities across the country. Now in its fifth consecutive year, Rochester's production features 13 local writers and storytellers — including Erica Bryant with "A Poop Story" and Taylor Terrance with "Row, row, row your boat, gently until we scream" — who will present staged readings on Mother's Day eve. Proceeds from LTYM Rochester will benefit the Society for the Protection and Care of Children (SPCC), which supports children and their families in the Rochester community. The program will be ASL interpreted.

Saturday, May 11, at 7:30 p.m. Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 North Plymouth Avenue. $18.50 advance, $25 at the door. rocthemic.org.
