THEATER | 'Wild Horses'

"We weren't freedom fighters, we were freedom takers" is the tagline for Allison Gregory's new play "Wild Horses," a funny, emotional play about an adult woman reflecting on a teenage summer, how it changed her, and how it affected her search for identity and independence. "Wild Horses" was produced this summer at the Contemporary American Theater Festival as a part of a National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere. The network includes theaters in Tennessee and New Jersey — and Rochester's JCC CenterStage, where you can see it this weekend and participate in a post-show talk-back with Gregory. (It will also be repeated in this year's Rochester Fringe Festival.) "Wild Horses" is directed by Victoria Visiko and features one of the Rochester scene's best local actors, Davida Bloom.

"Wild Horses" will be performed Saturday, September 9, at 8 p.m., and Sunday, September 10, at 2 p.m., at the JCC of Greater Rochester, 1200 Edgewood Avenue. $15. 461-2000; jccrochester.org.
