Dirty Blanket has been a full band only since 2016, but the group already feels like an indelible part of Upstate New York's Americana scene. With an up-tempo feel that borders on punk rock energy, the Canandaigua quintet plays music that's steeped in bluegrass — but frequently ventures into country, and folk, with jam band flourishes. These skilled pickers will be hosting "Dirty September," a month-long residency at Flour City Station. Each Wednesday, the band will team up with a different group of local musicians for a distinctive collaboration: members of Dirty Owl Band (September 5); members of The Honey Smugglers (September 12); keyboardist Donny Frauenhofer (September 19); and members of Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (September 26).
Dirty Blanket will take the stage with musicians from the Blind Owl Band on Wednesday, September 5, and members of The Honey Smugglers on Wednesday, September 12, at Flour City Station, 170 East Avenue. 8 p.m. each night. $10 per show, $40 for a 4-week pass. 413-5745. flourcitystation.com; dirtyblanketbluegrass.com.
