When you think of the Pacific Northwest, Celtic music may not be your first thought, but then again there are more striking contrasts: like reggae bands from Virginia. While this five-piece "West Coast Celtic" band hails from Vancouver, its brogue accents root them across the pond. The band's dual lead vocals bolster its boisterous conviviality. A comfort you'd find in that neighborhood pub in Ireland, Guinness' spilling out of mugs. The Town Pants rollicked through hundreds of cities and a dozen countries with high-energy, accessible songs like "Loch Lomond" and "Shore Leave." Its 5th album, "Connections," is 15 songs swiftly recorded in 2 days last spring. It's more of its rowdy fun, with catchy choruses and infectious four-count rhythms.
The Town Pants play with The Stick Figures on Friday, December 19, at the Montage Music Hall, 50 Chestnut Street. 9 p.m. $8-$10. themontagemusichall.com; thetownpants.com.
