This year's installment of Rochester SummerFest will be held outside at Sahlen's Stadium, 460 Oak Street. The first day, Friday, July 10, is billed as Blues & BBQ and will feature music from Clarence Carter, Pokey Bear, The Jimmy Highsmith Band, and more. On Saturday, July 11, the festival will shift gears to hip-hop and R&B, notably hosting classic hip-hop favorites Salt-n-Pepa in the headlining slot. Salt-n-Pepa, starting in 1985, were one of the first all-female hip-hop groups, challenging the genre's sexist portrayal of women. The day's packed lineup will also feature Doug E. Fresh, Rakim, Rico Love, and more. Besides music and food, the festival will also host a "Kid Zone" with face painting, bounce houses, and batting cages.
Tickets for Friday, July 10, are $15 in advance, $25 at the door, $35 VIP; Saturday, July 11, tickets are $37 in advance, $47 at the door, $57 VIP. Gates open 5 p.m. July 10, and at 12 p.m. on July 11. For more information visit rochestersummerfest.com.
