English pop-rocker Declan McKenna writes the perfect songs for summer. His music has an indelible catchiness that'll have you bobbing your head instantly. At times, McKenna's voice recalls the nasally, angsty Liam Gallagher of Oasis. Elsewhere, the sound is akin to that of fellow fresh-faced Brit Jake Bugg. McKenna's debut full-length album, the expertly produced "What Do You Think About the Car?" has just the right amount of hummable melodies and synth-laden bombast, à la MGMT. Keep an eye — and an ear — out for the talented 18-year-old. Dan Luke and The Raid will open the show.
Declan McKenna performs Monday, August 14, at Montage Music Hall, 50 Chestnut Street. 8 p.m. $15-$18. themontagemusichall.com; declanmckenna.net.
