VOCAL | "A Narrow Bridge" 

Rochester Gay Men's Chorus Artistic Director Robert Strauss describes the group's concert this weekend, "A Narrow Bridge," as "about being a light in the darkness — a call to be a beacon of hope for those who feel hopeless." RGMC will do that, and inspire others, through its performances of songs like "Bridge over Troubled Water" and "The Sound of Silence" as well as "Tyler's Suite," a choral song cycle by nine highly varied composers — from Pulitzer Prize winner John Corigliano to Broadway's Stephen Schwartz and Stephen Flaherty. The nine songs offer reflections on the life and death of Tyler Clementi, the 18-year-old gay man who took his own life in 2010 after an attack of cyber-bullying by his college roommate. "Tyler's Suite" has been well received in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Dallas, and now makes its Rochester debut. Joining RGMC will be violinist Perrin Yang, baritone Daniel Ihasz, mezzo-soprano Chandra Downs, tenor Alex Kosmowski, and Tyler Hecht as Tyler Clementi.

The Rochester Gay Men's Chorus will perform "A Narrow Bridge" on Saturday, March 18, at Hochstein Performance Hall, 50 North Plymouth Avenue. 7:30 p.m. Advance tickets are $20 general; $17 for seniors and students; and $8 for children 12 and under.
