VOA Thrift stores benefit local Volunteers Of America programs --- housing for the homeless, child-care and education for low-income families, emergency outreach programs, and drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers. Mondays are senior days (over 55) with 25 percent off merchandise and 50 percent off clothing. Proceeds from the store benefit local Vietnam veterans. Call 482-8016 for pick-up information.

Hadassah Thrift Shop, 345 Meigs Street, 461-4910: Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday, closed Saturdays. Currently running a 50-percent off sale. Specials vary according to inventory. Hadassah is a Jewish women's organization that supports women's causes and charities worldwide. No pick-up.

Thrift Shop at Strong Memorial, 601 Elmwood Avenue, 275-5417: Open 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A modest selection of men's and women's clothes, small household appliances, and toys. Proceeds benefit patient care. No pick-up.
