[UPDATED] Senior housing slated for the Eastman Dental Dispensary

Posted By on Tue, Nov 12, 2013 at 4:07 PM

UPDATE, November 14, 2013, 9:20 a.m.: Nelson Leenhouts, chair of Home Leasing LLC, says that the "very preliminary" plan is to renovate the Dental Dispensary for 57 senior apartments. The apartments would be for high- and medium-income senior citizens, he says. Financing has not yet been secured for the project, he says. "We have a long ways to go," Leenhouts says.

ORIGINAL STORY:

This just came over from the Neighborhood of the Arts Business Association:

"Home Leasing, LLC intends to completely rehabilitate the historic Eastman Dental Dispensary and reuse it for senior housing. On Thursday, November 14, at 6 p.m., we will be presenting our plans in the George Williams Hall at the YMCA, located at 444 East Main Street. We encourage you to join us, as we will appreciate all of your comments and suggestions." Nelson Leenhouts, Chairman, Home Leasing, LLC."

I've got a call in to Leenhouts to get more details.

The vacant dental dispensary is a landmark and was named to the Landmark Society's "Five to Revive" list of priority sites for revitalization.
