TECH | ROC Game Dev Showcase Party

Too few Rochesterians know that there's a growing video game industry right here in town. Not only are we the home of game developer company Workinman Interactive and its sub-studio BreadMachine, Rochester also has a community of indie developers known as ROC Game Dev. On Saturday, January 27, members of this collective will showcase some of Rochester's home-grown games at Bug Jar. Imaginary Monsters (AKA Peter Lazarski) will let the audience try out its spooky retro platformer "Halloween Forever" as well as its new game "Abyxsis"; bclikesyou will showcase his most recent release "A Small Robot Story"; David Kilmer will show off "Reproduction Man"; and Neon Deity Games from Buffalo will be present as well. BreadMachine will also unveil its new unreleased game.

The event will also feature live chiptune music from bclikesyou, Little Paw, SBthree, and Hang On, Get Ready. The ROC Game Dev Showcase Party will take place Saturday, January 27, at Bug Jar (219 Monroe Avenue). Game showcase starts at 7 p.m., tunes are at 9 p.m. $5-$7. 454-2966; bugjar.com; rocgamedev.com.
